What ever happened to Katie Lucas?
George Lucas's daughter, Katie, wrote 15 episodes of the Clone Wars, most notably about the Nightsisters and the excellent Clone Conspiracy arc in season 6. Several of her unproduced episodes became the book "Dark Disciple". And then she slowly disappeared from the entertainment industry. In 2013 she had a short film she directed premier at the Tribeca Film Festival, and she had a tumblr covering some of her work until about 2016 (using the name of Katie Rose).
Between having a famous father, to already having several screenwriting credits, I find it odd that she just disappeared after the sale to Disney. Surely she could have continued if she wanted to, either with Lucasfilm or independently.
I'd love to see her return to the saga as a writer on one of the dozens of shows in the works if she has any interest in it, though as an heir of George Lucas she probably never needs to work again.
Those who say that "she just doesn't work for Disney" forgot how much she was harassed for being involved in the Clone Wars, having to constantly defend her dad (she was driven off twitter around 2011 due to harassment) and her weight. So it's more like she doesn't want to deal with the cesspool that is this fandom and I wouldn't blame her.
I didn't know about that :(
I witnessed it first hand... I was following her on Twitter at the time and even had the good fortune of engaging with her personally (one of the good things Twitter actually had). The abuse she got was... Disgusting to say the least.
She wrote a forward to Dark Disciple. And she made some short films on Vimeo a while back. Other than that, she's kept a low profile.
But I wouldn't say it's because she doesn't want to work with Disney or Disney is distancing themselves from Lucas. If she wanted to work as a writer, she could find non-disney work with her experience
Maybe she realized she never has to work again
Maybe she didnt wanna work for disney.
