With an exceptional design, surrounded by the dignified facade of the Städel Museum of Art, the Holbein’s opened its doors in 1999 and was reopened with a new gastronomic concept and redesigned interior in 2012. While being an adventure café with bistro cuisine during the day, in the evening excellent restaurant with demanding kitchen: Enjoy a break from art with fine dining!
Very nice and fancy restaurant in the museum with terrace.
Lovely and refined food ranging from gyoza ravioli to fresh fish (catch of the day) to ox cheeks (melted in our mouths) not to forget dessert.
I had the pleasure of having dinner at this restaurant while visiting Frankfurt after a long time.
Lovely location, right in the center but not too crowded, very interesting interior design and concept.
Delicious wine( I had a glass of Californian Chardonnay) and great food,...honest sized portions and balanced flavors, nothing too crazy or unique but still a very pleasent meal.
The meat was very tasty and well seasoned altough some parts of it were quite chewy, some more sauce on the plate would have given a better balance in the meat(350 grams) to garnish ratio.
Only weak point is the menu which, in my eyes, has a quite limited choice of plates and could easily engage in some more interesting Flavor profiles.
A special mention goes to the waiter Giuseppe, extremely friendly, professional and welcoming, he made our overall dining experience less “anonymous” and somewhat more personal. The way he interacted wirh all the guests troughout the night was admirableand we had the chance ourselves to entertain in a conversation at the end of dinner, big compliments to him!
I would overall recommend this restaurant for a plesant family dinner if you enjoy a cozy atmosphere with live music and good food.
The price point is on the high side, is it worth it? For tonight’s experience yes, for a next time there should definitely be some wow effect to make me say it is!More

Thank you very much for your nice comment - much appreciated!
We are looking forward to seeing you again! Have a nice weekend! Best regards, your Holbein's team!
Definitely a very nice place with an excellent atmosphere and exquisite piano music. Food as always very tasty - the filet with the new interpretation of the Caesar salad was absolutely delicious. Desserts are always fantastic, too, great creations like the white chocolate sorbet with...cotton candy and fruits. Prices are relatively high. But if you are not lucky your server will have a lot of attitude...a pity, really.More
As locals we have been visiting Holbein‘s on a regular basis for many years. The interior is attractive, as is the terrace in summer, all the more impressive as the restaurant is integrated in the prestigious Städel Art Museum. Service is professional and pleasant. This...is were the good news ends. We have found the quality of the dishes to be on a steady decline, while the prices keep rising. On most plates there is simply to much going on, resulting in a confused amalgamation of ingredients. In particular the main fish dishes are ridiculously overpriced for what is served. Shame that such a fine location is run so poorly, but the operator, who has a number of outlets in town, obviously thinks the he can get away with just about anything in this location.More
I visited Holbein's while at Frankfurt Book Fair in October; the atmosphere was excellent and the food delicious. The servers were discreet and attentive, and the five of us were served a variety of delicious meals.
My wife & I discovered a true gem in Frankfurt. Just a short walk across the river from Intercontinental Hotel. I had the surf and turf and my wife had sushi & the miso salmon. Both were excellent as well as the service. We spent...184.00 Euro for the meal which included a 60.00 bottle of wine. The quality matched the value. We will definitely return. The quality of food, service and atmosphere at Holbein's matches its prices. That's to say, it's all high end. Definitely an excellent choice for special occasions, or tourists like myself who like to splurge a little.
I work in a company, and my boss trusted me to choose one of the restaurants in Frankfurt, I decided to look on reviews and its rates. And it is real amazing.. We have received very nice comments about the restaurants and eventually the guests...enjoyed everything about HOlbiens, (food, place, interior design, people) Thumbs up!.More
