ILYA SERGEEVICH GLAZUNOV
EUDOXIA OF MOSCOW, FROM THE KULIKOVO FIELD SERIES
signed in Cyrillic t.r.; further bearing a USSR export label on the stretcher
oil on canvas
99.5 by 73cm, 39¼ by 28¾in.
Original canvas, which is slightly buckling in the upper left and lower left corner. There is a horizontal scratch of approximately 20cm in length with some associated paint loss in the lower left. There are paint stains to the fur trim of the headdress, which appear to have happened when the paint was still wet. There are spots of discoloured varnish visible in places, most notably to the veil and neck. There is a light layer of surface dirt. Minor frame abrasions can be seen along the edges. Inspection under UV light reveals some scattered retouching to the headdress as well as to the top and bottom edges. Held in a gold coloured frame with canvas slip.
