Beautiful Music, Bland Videos, Odd Selection

Per my understanding, Enya is the uncontested pinnacle of her genre. I'm sure that you've heard her music if you're looking at this review, as most people have been exposed at one point or another.

This DVD contains music videos for several of her songs. All of the music videos are nice enough, and appropriate to her style of music, but I couldn't help but find them to be pretty bland. You wouldn't "watch" these like you would watch other music videos that I have... there just isn't anything narrative or compelling about the video. It's a collection of video of surf, video of forests, video of rain, some dancing, lots of closeups of Enya, and things of this sort, stitched together expertly.

I was also disappointed by the song selection. There are a few of her big hits, but many of these videos are for songs that I don't particularly like. Looking back over her albums, it seems pretty clear that she chose to make videos for songs that meant something to her, rather than songs that were popular among her fans.

In spite of my gripes, I can't really complain. None of these videos were specifically made for this DVD release, and I can't really fault this product for doing what it does -- collecting the videos that exist for the fans who want to collect them. An Enya fan will be lucky to have this (or even find it, since it is out-of-print).

I've seen this DVD and it's good, it's not Celtic Woman good but you have to admit Enya is probably almost a talent equal to one or two of the Celtic Woman's younger members. I'm surprised she didn't join the Celtic Woman ensemble, you have to figure she was asked to join, maybe too big an ego. Anyway, had this DVD been priced competitively to her Celtic peers it would be a big seller. Myself, I'll wait till I can get a reasonably priced edition, and keep enjoying the Celtic Woman DVDs in the mean time, they do a better rendition of 'Orinoco Flow' than her original work.

Disc information is wrong

The DVD was advertised as NTSC region 2, and I received a PAL region 0 (free) DVD. I've read another review saying that the DVD was NTSC region 1, and I thought that the information shown on the product page was wrong, and the DVD was really an NTSC region 1 disc. I got confused and bought it thinking that I would receive the NTSC region 1 DVD, but I've received the other one. Now the only way I can play it is using my computer since my DVD player can't play PAL discs. Thats not a problem for me, but it's kinda annoying watching it on the PC.

As for the DVD itself, it's just awesome, If you are a fan o Enya, this DVD is a must have in your collection.

On this video, I learned a lot about Enya that I didn't know. I'm glad that she put her real story inside this DVD. She is not as mysterious of a person that I thought she was. She is a real person.

I like the video very much, but I have to admit that the images on the videos in this DVD are not the same images I imagined while listening to these various songs on my CD's. It's beautiful the way she did it, and I wouldn't want to ever change it.

I like this video very much, but have to admit that it is a bit expensive.

I had the same problem with this DVD as another reviewer. The DVD plays fine but the last two bonus tracks do not. The two extras for: The making of.... don't play at all. I bought this DVD new and sealed but it just does not play the bonuses. The main video with ENYA hits is perfect and delightful. Especially, the title: Evening falls, that is filmed in black & white is just phantastic.

this enya video collection on dvd is absolutely brilliant !! i bought it when it was first released for the price of £19.99. sadly my home was burgled in 2005 while in a respite care home for the disabled, All my dvds were stolen amongst many other items. i was most upset over not having enya dvd any more which was my pride and joy, enya dvd was the cream of my collection. i have never been able to replace it with a brand new version under £100. why is it so rare, expensive and difficult to acquire. in sheer desperation i have had to download enya's videos from itunes (to date the video wild child not available on itunes so my collection not yet complete) onto my laptop which although very good (i play them every week) sadly isn't the same as owing the original dvd disc which has enya's photo on. there are cheaper copy versions in circulation so i have found out. i'm still in search for the original, i sincerely hope it is re-released as i predict it will be a best seller.

This is a rare and beautiful video, to the best of my knowledge unavailable as cd or dvd, so with ancient vhs players, have had to replace my copy a few times as the tapes gets mangled, so save playing for special occassions! The filming is imaginative, creative and a delight watch, and I cannot hear the music without recalling the visuals. The whole thing is Enya, hauntingly beautiful.

Yet, as some other reviewers have meantioned earlier, the sound quality oon this DVD is not as excellent as it might be regarding Enya's superb music and studio sound arrangings. The conclusion is, actually :) - it is time to republish this (and more) material on Blu-ray with restored/ improved sound and picture quality!

This collection of videos is excellent, I finally got to see somewhat "luxurious" videos which I had not seen in years, the graphics and "special effects" are superb. However, I would have prefered to have seen the original promotional video of "Book of Days" with the scenes of the film "Far and Away" and Enya in the background instead of a live performance at "Top of the Pops", this was supposed to have been a collection of music videos! The live performance of the song is somewhat boring compared to the rest of the videos! I don't understand why this was so! Other than that the collection was great.
