Leni Riefenstahl improved in many ways with "Triumph des Willens" even though it has some similarity that was basis to help improve , with or without the elimination of Ernst Röhm who was consequently replaced by Viktor Lutze in SA , it took some "retouching" of the following film to portray the sixth congress of the N.S.D.A.P in more detail.

this is an important documentary, showing the 100s of 1000s of the german sheepel who cast their lot with these criminals. from at least one of the reviewers, there are some still around who insist on learning nothing no matter how tragic--not just to the jews of europe or the countries occupied and bled white by these would-be-bullies. it is some compensation that the nazis got taken care of WELL and the few left cannot stop moaning about it.

as an army brat in the 1950's i played both football and soccer here on zeppelinfeld. even the film cannot catch the enormity of it. zu groß!

It appears censorship is happening in the reviews, as one referenced by the politically correct, mainstream reviewer who likes to hear himself talk has already been deleted.

I suggest disallowing reviews altogether if you plan on censoring the one's that don't swallow all of Stalin's, Churchill's and FDR's lies.

After 80 years nobody in their right mind is concerned about the Nazis, Hitler, etc. The aftermath of World War II and including the Holocaust tells us all we really need to know about the Nazis. The previous reviewer had to get his little revisionist dig in ASAP. Nobody cares in so much as the subject has been hashed and re-hashed over the years.
Leni Riefenstahl on the other hand was a genius when it came to film. Her work is what is important here and how she edited it all together. Yes all the usual suspects are on hand and they are made to be shone in their best light. That's what good propaganda is and going by the results it captured a lot of minds and hearts of the German people throughout the land and indeed throughout the world, and, I might add, got a lot of people killed. I think her approach, which she always maintained from her point of view, was neutral, which it was not, it is the purest kind of cinema magic.
Nothing in Germany was like what was portrayed here in 1933 after Spring 1945. Imagine had she had a hand in some great American propaganda or opted to defect to Hollywood such as others had in the 30's. The mind boggles at her potential to make commercial films of the time, right along Ford, Lang, and a host of others. We'll never know, but give her what she's due. Print is O.K. Sound and sub-titles leave a lot to be desired.
Buffs, History Freaks, Nazis (revisionists and otherwise) only. My only concern in this review is the work of Riefenstahl as an artist in film without the political wrangle that goes along with that. Admittedly, that's a hard thing to do. What did Shakespeare say?, "The evil that men do lives after them, the good is oft interred with their bones." Mea culpa.

roehm did not try to start a coup on hitler´s regime... all he had was immense power within in the system which seemed to become a threat towards other peoples ambitions, so they staged a coup to covert their will to execute roehm and his followers and make german people believe it was righ that way...
