Can Michael Cera please direct a feature film? This and Failure are like two of my favourite short films ever. Michael is amazing and really subtly funny in this and I love the ridiculous scenario and how he plays it 100% serious, both in his performance and direction. The pure insanity and absurdity of the premise combined with his very grounded approach are no better emphasized then when Mr. Hartman hears the playback of his own voice. I just desperately need Michael Cera to direct a feature length subtle comedy in the vein of this or I don't know what I'll do with myself.
michael cera u talent, u treasure, u renaissance man. please direct a feature! the world doesn’t deserve it, but we need it goddamnit
would i ,,, would i watch a michael cera feature film? would i pay real money to go to a real cinema and watch a real michael cera feature film?

user a: i thought [this channel] was supposed to be comedy. nothing on [this channel] is ever funny, just depressing, uncomfortable and absurd.

i agree user b! this was neat. i wish it was a whole film
Michael Cera the director emerged in 2013, which is also the same year he changed gears ever so slightly as an actor, appearing in the Sebastian Silva one-two punch double feature, Crystal Fairy, & Magic Magic. He proves a delightfully odd and capable hand behind the camera, too, and Brazzaville Teenager is a terrific launching point for what could potentially be on the horizon.
There are some well-constructed scenes and solid performances in this short, and the feeling of desperation certainly comes through in the climax. I guess I'm just not really okay with how nonsensical it ultimately was.
Why was it actually good? Seriously mr. Cera killed it with this one. I wasn’t expecting much but it really hit all the right notes. It was interesting, absurd, funny, specific, and dare I say honest?
Ugly ass poster though
