- TJeinsteinwoodDeal, UK410 contributionsA great place to visit to get some photos of Taipei 101 building even if you don't go up. We decided against it as, by local prices, it's expensive at NT$600 per person (compared to for example NT$100 for the zoo).
The food court is great! Lots of different foods to see and try. Most places have an English translated menu too.

I'm not sure how anyone can finish this in a couple hours unless they're just rushing past everything. I took my time and when the museum closed at 5pm, I had only finished 2 floors! I had to come back the next day at 2pm to see the floor I missed, and I finished it with a half hour before closing - enough time to check out the gift shop. It’s a welcome break from the shopping and eating that comes with vacating. - BP R1 contributionDid a spectacular tour with Island Life Taiwan throughout Taroko Gorge. It is breathtaking! We never would have seen half of what we saw doing it ourselves, as there are traffic/construction stops that need to be timed perfectly. We enjoyed fantastic authentic food, and the sites in the Gorge are so amazing that pictures don’t do it justice. - TJeinsteinwoodDeal, UK410 contributionsIt must get really busy here - but it was lovely and quiet when we went. Get the metro to Taipei zoo and walk about 5-10 mins to the gondola station.
There are tickets machines outside and inside the building. It costs NT$120 per adult for a 1 way journey (approx £3). Like everything in Taiwan it's very clean and ordered.
There are clear bottom cable cars and normal ones - there are queue lines are marked for either. We got straight into a cable cat and had it to ourselves. It's a 30 journey each way. The cable car is really quiet and smooth.
There's not much to see at the top as it's not at the top of the mountain but it's still worth going up for the views.
You can get the bus back down- much cheaper at NT$15 per person but we went down by cable car as there was quite a long wait - each bus stop has time tables in English.
If you are planning on going to the zoo afterwards, get off at the zoo south station (not the last terminal station) as you can buy a zoo ticket and then walk down the hill rather than up again!

Come on MRT blue line and exit to Longshan - you won't miss the temple!
It's stunning to see - lots of people attending to pray and visitors taking photos. Offerings are being made, along with a big queue of people buying offerings.

- FMozSoutheast Asia4,678 contributionsIt is one of the better zoos in the world and very vast and extensive. Entrance fee is a token TWD100 for visitors and TWD60 for locals. So, it gets lots of people, particularly local schoolchildren and locals just coming to hang around. But as with any zoo, mammals are miserable and should never be kept like this. - luxuryvoyageSwitzerland3,351 contributionsAn impressive winding gorge with many worthwhile sightseeing stops. You can visit the gorge on a day tour (for example from Taipei). However, it is much nicer to combine the tour with an overnight stay at Silks Place at the end of the gorge. There is a bus that stops at all the tourist hotspots (hop on hop off), but you lose a lot of time. We traveled with our own rental car and found this to be the best option. The only disadvantage is that it was sometimes difficult to find a parking space at the sights. Alternatively, I would recommend a private tour with a driver, then you don't have to look for a parking space. The front part of the gorge (at the entrance to the gorge) is rather boring, the interesting sights are at the back. If you are only here on a day trip, you should drive to the end of the gorge first and start your sightseeing tour from there. You will need more time than you think to see the entire gorge. - Tabby187 contributionsThis park was included in our packaged tour with an entrance fee of 120 NTD. It has magnificent coastal views and several iconic rock formations such as the Queen's head, cute princess, and fairy slipper. There is an area of food stalls selling some treats (some offering free samples) and a few nearby seafood restaurants.
It was a bit crowded during our weekday visit, and it is quite worrying that some of the rock formations are being touched by the tourists.
