Even as the weather cools and children return to school, travel hasn't slowed down this fall.

Now is the ideal time to book a short trip, thanks to Southwest Airlines offering one-way fares starting at $59.

Through Southwest, you can fly to multiple cities in the U.S., Mexico, Cuba and the Bahamas with discounted, one-way fares. The deal applies to flights booked between Oct. 4, 2022, and Feb. 15, 2023.

Book as soon as you can, though. The deal ends Oct. 3.

Sample flights

What stands out about this Southwest deal is the range of options and flexibility. You can fly from almost any city in the U.S. and you have up to three weeks to book this deal.

At the same time, the majority of cities you can fly to in this deal are mostly smaller cities, which can be convenient for visiting family or business trips, but maybe not for vacations. However, fares to cities like Austin, New York, Boston, Philadelphia and San Francisco are also included in this Southwest deal. There are also some international routes to Mexico, the Bahamas and Cuba.

Prices for flights range from $59 to $300, with the highest prices mostly applying to international flights.

Southwest's Wanna Get Away fare includes two free checked bags and is nonrefundable.

You can also book a hotel through Southwest, but keep in mind that your total bill (for the flight and hotel) will be at least $800. The cheapest possible hotels Southwest offers through this bundle costs around $819 per person, and the price includes both airfare and hotel stay.

However, even though the total bundle is cheap, the hotel, the Governor House Inn in Falls Church, Virginia is approximately a 20-minute drive from Washington and is a two-star hotel.

Without the hotel bundle, a round trip from New York to Washington will cost approximately $222.
