MEGHAN Markle openly acknowledges adjusting her fashion choices during her trip to Nigeria with husband Prince Harry in a sincere effort to “blend in”. During a panel event centered on Women in Leadership, the Duchess of Sussex briefly parted ways with Harry on Saturday. Meghan sported three different outfits that day, accompanying them to various engagements during their unofficial “royal tour” of the African nation.

However, it was her striking red ensemble that garnered the most attention as her final attire for the evening. Meghan’s elegant maxi dress, sourced from Nigerian designer Orire and priced at under £230, was reportedly a spontaneous choice.

Seated with her microphone, addressing the audience, Meghan shared, “It has been a whirlwind 24 hours since we arrived, and I very quickly got the memo that I need to wear more colour so I can fit in with all of you in your incredible fashion.”

Meghan recently learned she has Nigerian heritage, accounting for 43 percent of her ancestry, according to a genealogy test. Upon this discovery, she excitedly contacted her mother, sharing the news as an “exciting” development for both of them. She has previously reflected on the challenges of African-American identity, expressing a lack of detailed knowledge about her lineage and background.

“It’s been truly enlightening and humbling to delve deeper into my heritage, recognizing that this is only the beginning of that journey,” she remarked previously.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in Abuja, Nigeria, in the early hours of Friday morning. Following their arrival, the couple visited a school to interact with children and deliver speeches on mental health awareness. Meghan even snapped selfies with some of the students at Lights Academy, while Prince Harry playfully photobombed his wife.

This follows Harry’s poignant speech during their school visit on Friday, where he addressed the children and the audience, highlighting the pervasive stigma surrounding mental health in many parts of the world.

“In numerous corners of the globe, more than we might imagine, there exists a stigma attached to mental health. Too often, individuals shy away from discussing it because it’s invisible, it resides within the mind, beyond our physical sight,” Harry articulated.

The Sussexes are currently engaged in a 72-hour whirlwind visit to Nigeria. This journey to West Africa follows Harry’s brief return to the United Kingdom, immediately after his son Prince Archie’s fifth birthday, marking his swift departure from his former country of residence.
