Warwick 6, Phoebus 5

Connor Smith went 2 for 2 with two RBIs for the Raiders, whose pitchers struck out 15. Phoebus’ Xavier Nixon went 3 for 4 with two RBIs.

Kaia Hutton got her 100th career hit while going 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs for the Peninsula District champion Dukes (20-0). Cameron Palas was 2 for 3 with a double and four RBIs, Alivia Bruce was 2 for 2, and pitcher Autumn Cookson improved to 13-0.

Non-district

Cox 16, Maury 0

Emmy Bowen led the Falcons with three RBIs.

Class 5 Region A quarterfinals

Cox 17, Bayside 3

Matt Goodman had five goals and two assists for the second-seeded Falcons, who advanced to the semifinals by beating the seventh-seeded Marlins. Cox will play Wednesday in Kellam’s stadium at 7 p.m. against third-seeded Princess Anne or sixth-seeded Kempsville. Also for Cox, Luke Rhoades and Jake Carnell both had three goals and two assists, Connor Warren scored twice, and Liam Waldron had a goal and two assists. Christian Braithwaite, Barrett Glasser and Curtis Bartholomew each scored a goal.

Class 5 Region B team final

Maury 5, Granby 3

After a 3-3 singles tie where the Commodores won the top three matches and the Comets won the lower three, Maury won on the top two doubles lines for the victory at Huntington Park in Newport News. John Felts, Manolo Angeles and Johnny March won in singles and doubles for Maury, while Noah Schranz, AJ Angeles and Gabriel Mallari were Granby’s singles victors.

Top-seeded Neil Vanga and Sam Dixon of Cox joined two Hickory tandems and one from First Colonial in the semifinals. The tournament champion will advance to the state semis.

Class 4 Region A team semifinals

Jamestown 5, Gloucester 0

The defending region champs rolled into the championship match and ensured a state tournament spot by shutting out the Dukes, who had edged Manor 5-4 in the opening round. The Eagles will play host to Warhill for the region title at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Warhill 5, Phoebus 3

The Lions clinched a state quarterfinal berth by ousting the Phantoms and improved to 9-9 on the season. Warhill blanked Churchland 5-0 in Portsmouth in the first round.

Class 5 Region B final

Maury 5, Menchville 3

The Commodores won four singles matches and one in doubles at Huntington Park in a clash of teams who already had qualified for the state quarterfinals. The Monarchs’ Tori Epps won 6-0, 6-0 on singles line 1 and joined Erin Pridgen for a 6-1, 6-1 doubles triumph.

Behl/Jain (Ocean Lakes) 6-2, 6-3; Tucker/Tanenggee (2, Ocean Lakes) d. Williams/Kim (Great Bridge) 6-1, 6-7 (6-8), 1-0 (10-7).

Quarterfinals: Kennedy/London (1, Great Bridge) d. Koch/King 6-0, 6-0; Muluneh/Jenkins d. Nied/Esplana 6-0, 6-1; Ricks/Holroyd d. Theobold/King 6-4, 7-5; Tucker/Tanenggee d. Monahan/Burnell 6-1, 6-1.

Kayla Kennedy and Chase London, who won the Class 4 Region A doubles title last season, are favored to do so at a higher class now. They joined pairs from Bayside, Cox and Ocean Lakes in the semifinals. The tournament winner will advance to the state semis.

Class 4 Region A semifinals

Jamestown 5, Phoebus 0

The reigning state champions, led by Julia Clark and Scarlett Gamez, shut out the Phantoms to reach Wednesday’s 3 p.m. final at Jamestown against Warhill. Phoebus knocked off Manor 5-2 in the first round.

Warhill 5, Churchland 0

The Lions earned their second consecutive shutout to play their way into the state tournament. They blanked Gloucester 5-0 in the first round.
