Sheridan County HS Track and Field: The 2024 Wyoming High School Spring Sports season has concluded and Sheridan County High School Teams and athletes not only brought home trophies and medals, a few put themselves into the record book.

The Sheridan Boys and Girls, as well the Big Horn boys, all won the team title at this past weekend’s State Track and Field Meet.

For the Sheridan Boys, it’s their 3rd state title in 4 years.

For the Sheridan Girls, it’s only the 2nd time in school history.

The other was way back in 1983.

For the Big Horn Boys, they are now repeat State Champs.

As for the new state record holders…Addie Pendergast of Sheridan now has the overall state record in both the 300 meter hurdles and the 400 meter dash.

In the latter, she broke the record she set last year.

Chance Morris of Sheridan now owns the overall state record in the 200 meter dash.

He broke the record on Saturday and it just so happened the previous record was set by Gavin Stafford of Big Horn the day before.

Stafford’s time is still a new 2A record which he set in the preliminaries, and he does own the new overall state record in the 100 meter dash and also owns the 2A record in the boys long jump.

BH’s 4 by 100 meter relay team set a new 2A record.

Other state title winners of note, Caleb Kilbride of Tongue River won the 2A Boys 110 meter hurdles and the 2A boys high jump.

Chaney Reish of TR won the 2A Girls Triple Jump.

Lilly Charest of Sheridan won the 4A Girls Pole Vault and had the best height of the entire meet in all classes.

Landrum Wiley of Sheridan won the 4A Boys 3200 meter run.

We’ll have interviews with various state champs and record holders later this week.

Also the Big Horn girls team brought home a trophy as they finished tied for 4th.


Sheridan HS Soccer: The Sheridan boys lost on Friday in the state semi-finals to eventual champ Jackson 3-nil, but recovered on Saturday to beat Kelly Walsh 2-1 to bring home the 3rd place trophy for the second year in a row.

The Broncs finished the season with a record of 14-4-2.


Sheridan Mavericks/Lady Mavericks Lacrosse: The Sheridan Lady Mavericks won a championship in only their second year of existence.

Playing in the 4-team Division 2 level of the Montana High School Lacrosse League, Sheridan defeated Billings in the semi-finals on Saturday 9-3, and then defeated Bozeman yesterday in the championship by the same 9-3 score.

As for the boys, they went in as the #3 seed on Saturday and were upset in the first round by Cody 6-4, then beat Missoula 15-4 in the consolation round.

Yesterday, the Mavericks lost in the 5th place game 9-7 vs. Great Falls to conclude the season.


Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers split a home double-header yesterday against the Billings Expos, losing the first game 7-6 and winning the second game 4-1.

Tyler Hutton hit a 2-run home run in the second game.

Sheridan is now 10-9 on the season.

The team will next play on Saturday, Sunday and Monday at a tournament at Gillette.

The next home game isn’t until June 4th.


Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies had their 7-game win streak snapped, as they lost all 3-games this past weekend at San Francisco.

Friday’s score was 10-5 as Jordan Beck hit a solo home run in that game.

On Saturday, the Rocks lost 14-4, and yesterday’s final score was 4-1.

Ryan McMahon went yard in yesterday’s game.

Colorado is off today and begin a 3-game series tomorrow at Oakland.


Denver Nuggets Basketball/NBA Playoffs: The season has ended for the defending champion Denver Nuggets.

Hosting Game 7 last night, the team had a 20-point lead early in the 3rd quarter vs. Minnesota, but could not hold on and ended up losing 98-90.

The Timberwolves will host Dallas in game 1 of the Best of 7 Western Conference Finals beginning Wednesday.

In the East, the Indiana Pacers traveled to New York for Game 7 and punched the Knicks in the mouth 130-109, to win that series 4-3.

The Pacers will start the best of 7 Eastern Conference finals tomorrow at Boston.


Colorado Avalanche Hockey/NHL Playoffs: The season for the Colorado Avalanche ended back on Saturday, as the Avs lost at home vs. Dallas 2-1 in 2 overtimes.

The Stars would win the series 4-2 to advance to the Western Conference Finals, and are waiting for the winner of tonight’s Game 7 between Edmonton and Vancouver.
