Gary Lineker has ‘heard a little rumour’ about what Jurgen Klopp’s next job could be after leaving Liverpool

Gary Lineker has ‘heard a little rumour’ about what Jurgen Klopp will do after leaving Liverpool.

It was an emotional day at Anfield on Sunday, as Jurgen Klopp waved goodbye, ending a glittering eight-and-a-half-year spell at the club.

It was a fitting way to bid farewell, too, as Liverpool cruised to victory, defeating Wolves 2-0 with Alexis Mac Allister and Jarell Quansah the goalscorers.

Klopp will now have a break from football and he has admitted that it could be a retirement from management.

Though, Lineker has heard what his next job may be.

Gary Lineker has heard Jurgen Klopp could become president of Borussia Dortmund

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Lineker shared a rumour he’d heard about Klopp potentially becoming the president of Borussia Dortmund.

“I will be interested to see what Jurgen Klopp does next. I think he will definitely take some time out because I think he’s genuine when he says he has run out of energy,” the 63-year-old said.

“You can see why that job is so demanding. There will be a battle for him in a year’s time. Or they’ll be lining up for a year or so’s time. I heard a little rumour that he might end up being president of Borussia Dortmund, which would be amazing.”

Alan Shearer: “I heard the same, yeah.”

A return to Dortmund wouldn’t at all be surprising and it aligns with Klopp’s thinking that he mightn’t return to management.

The scrutiny and demands of a club president are indeed a lot less than that of a manager, so that rumour may well come to fruition.

Jurgen Klopp won’t be in a rush

Klopp has already admitted he won’t manage in England again out of respect for Liverpool, so any return to the dugout will be abroad.

Though, even then, it seems far more likely that he’ll take up a role as a president, as Lineker alluded to.

Anyhow, he won’t be rushing into his next role, as he’s made it clear he wants to spend time with his family.
