The Crow franchise first hit screens in 1994 and since then, it has become a cult classic known for its gothic aesthetic and themes of revenge. The reboot, The Crow, hits cinemas in summer and everyone is itching to see how they will keep this magic alive.
As the demons of Shelly’s past haunt her, Eric Draven, in a bid to save her, gives himself up. He then returns, revenge-thirsty as every spirit of a murdered mortal would. Travelling through realms, both dead and living, he seeks bloody revenge against the killers and to right wrongs.
Almost two decades after the release of Crow: Wicked Prayer, its sequel and fifth instalment in the Crow franchise, hits cinemas this 2024.

The Crow Franchise
With its first debut in 1994, each film, though seen as a sequel of its latter, followed a different plot. One thing common in all instalments is the theme of love and how hard it is to bridge the gap between two impossible points.
A major part of these movies is based on the franchise’s comics, with The Crow published in 1989. The 90s marked the peak of the published articles The Crow: Dead Time, The Crow: Flesh & Blood, City of Angels, and The Crow: Wild Justice. The Crow: Waking Nightmares, The Crow/Razor: Kill the Pain, and The Crow were also released in the 90s as well. This latest treat looks like the replica of the first one ever released, which is why it has gained the name ‘REBOOT’ from viewers.
The Crow 2024 Cast
After winning the Fright Meter Awards as best supporting actor for IT & Best Ensemble Cast for IT II, Swedish Bill Skarsgård comes to deliver raw vengeance in The Crow 2024. In the role of Eric Draven/The Crow, he gives up his life for his girl, whose past haunted her. Venturing between the world of the dead and the living, Eric returns to get his pound of flesh from his killers and all those who have wronged him.
Famous musician FKA Twigs, known for her genre-bending 2022 album Caprisongs as well as her MOBO & MTV Europe Music Awards, portrays Shelly Webster. Haunted by her past and staring in the face of death, Eric, her fiancé gives up his life for hers.
Though confirmed without their exact roles being made public includes Danny Huston, Laura Birn, Sami Bouajila, and Jordan Bolger. Isabella Wei also stars as Zadie.
The Crow Bill Skarsgård
The Demise of Brandon Lee from Crow (1994) whilst acting as Eric Draven hit the Crow Franchise and fans to the core. Brandon was fatally injured by a prop gun whilst filming. The role, which is now being played by Bill Skarsgård, has placed the actor in a place of comparison of himself and the late Brandon Lee.
The first look at the Crow reboot shows Skarsgård deviating from Brandon’s original first look and leans more towards the comics’ aesthetic, with the inclusion of tattoos. A lot of fans feel that he looks more like the Joker than the Crow while others argue that Skarsgård cannot look like Brandon of the 90s due to the changes that have occurred in the last three decades. Despite these varying opinions, fans are eagerly awaiting the release.
The Crow Rupert Sanders
At the helm of directing affairs is Rupert Sanders, known for directing whom you might recognise from his work on Snow White and the Huntsman and also Ghost in the Shell. In 2021, he also directed the pilot episode of the Apple TV+ science fiction series Foundation. Based on the comic series by James O’Barr, Sanders is set to work with producers Molly Hassell, John Jencks, Samuel Hadida, Victor Hadida & Edward R Pressman to make this blockbuster off the originals.
The Crow Plot
Following the original movie & graphic novel of The Crow franchise, the fifth film is based on lovers Eric & Shelley. With Shelly’s past catching up with her, a gang rapes her and then proceeds to attack Eric.
Eric decides to give up his life for his girl, and the duo are brutally murdered. Through a telepathic connection with a crow, the mystical bird resurrects Eric from the dead. He then sets out to vanquish the gang that took the life of his fiancée one by one.
The Crow Trailer
As the release date approaches, fans finally had their first real look at the movie via a 3-minute trailer. In the course of the trailer, we get to see the fall and crux of Eric and Shelly’s relationship before he began his murderous journey of revenge. It is raw, dark and greatly satisfying.
