ALLIANCE, Ohio (May 17, 2024) – The Denison University men's and women's track & field teams sent four athletes to participate at the Mount Union Last Chance meet on Wednesday, May 15, and Thursday, May 16.
In an effort to improve her chances at qualifying for nationals,
Sophia Ellerkmann competed in the women's 400 meter dash and finished first with a time of 56.43 seconds. Ellerkmann began the day ranked 25th nationally in the event with a school record time of 56.30 seconds set at the Tennessee Invite but is now ranked No. 31.
Anaya Jolivette competed in the women's long jump and finished fifth at 5.08 meters (16-08.00) while
Tyler Miller competed in the men's high jump and finished seventh at 1.86 meters (6-01.25).
In a warmup for the decathlon competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships next week,
Jacob Brown competed in the men's discus throw and was 16th out of 16 at 32.70 meters (107-03.00). Brown is currently ranked No. 14 in NCAA Division III in the decathlon after scoring 6,504 points and winning his third-straight North Coast Athletic Conference decathlon title earlier this month.
NEXT UP: It was the final chance to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the Big Red athletes, who will now wait until later today on Friday, May 17, to see if they made the cut. The announcement will be made on
