Two young climate activists decide to document a year in their lives, navigating a movement that’s being stripped of the right to protest.
About this Event

Friday 17th May and Saturday 20th May, 7:30pm - 9:30pm

It’s the 29th June 2022, the day after the Police, Crimes, Sentencing and Courts Bill has come into effect in the UK. Meg and Tash, two young climate activists, decide to document how protest is affected in the next year. A lot can happen in a year. This is their story.

‘The Planet Is _____’ is a verbatim musical about climate justice, friendship and what it means to be an activist. Written by Natasha Pavey and Meg McGrady, the show has been created from poetry written and interviews captured between June 2022 and June 2023.

Friday Q&A: ‘Empowering Change: How To Get Involved with Climate Activism’ - A panel Q&A talk with representatives from different climate movements like Green New Deal Rising, Stop Cambo / Rosebank, Fossil Free London, and Just Stop Oil invited as guest speakers to discuss what it’s like getting into climate activism and reflecting on the content presented in the show.

Saturday Q&A: ‘Amplifying Voices: How Verbatim and Political Theatre Influences Change’ - A theatre-making focused talk with artists like Forristal and Clarke invited as guest speakers to discuss how to make work that seeks to shift public opinion through forms of theatre like verbatim whilst reflecting on the use of verbatim in ‘The Planet Is_____’.

Praise for Meg McGrady’s Previous Work The Phase’:

**** “Meg McGrady’s score is upbeat and lively at times and filled with emotion at others.” - Lost In Theatreland

**** “It is a complete delight to experience a new British musical with both a catchy and structurally sophisticated score that matches its quick, witty and emotionally intelligent book pound for pound.” - All That Dazzles
