University Welcomes Recommendation of Migration Advisory Committee to Retain Graduate Visa

In response to this week's publication by the Migration Advisory Committee of its Rapid Review of the Graduate Route, the University of Lincoln has welcomed the MAC’s recommendation that the Graduate route be retained in its current form.
In response to this week’s publication by the Migration Advisory Committee of its Rapid Review of the Graduate Route, the University of Lincoln has welcomed the MAC’s recommendation that the Graduate route be retained in its current form.
University of Lincoln Vice Chancellor Professor Neal Juster said: “Higher education is one of the UK’s most successful exports, and international students bring tens of billions of pounds a year to the UK economy. In Lincoln alone, international students contribute an estimated £130m per year in economic benefits, supporting hundreds of jobs, as well as adding to the diversity and cultural richness of our campus and city.
“Deterring international students through further tightening of visa rules would damage the national economy, harm local businesses, destabilise universities, and undermine UK higher education’s global reputation.
“We welcome the MAC’s recommendation that the Graduate route be retained. We await a formal response from the UK Government, expected later this month.”
