Naomi Church Oxley


Naomi Church Oxley of Clarksville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at home surrounded by family. She was born Nov. 14, 1933 in Crown City, Ohio to the late Stanley Charles Church and Clarice Fife Church and was a loving wife to the late Ayward Hearl Oxley for 65 years.

Naomi will be remembered as an amazing mother and grandmother. She loved flowers and gardening that would attract the butterflies and hummingbirds. She loved to can and was the best canner around.

She is survived by her two children, Harold Keith Oxley (Janice) of Graham, N.C., and Denise Oxley McGhee of Clarksville; two sisters, Irene Ours of Crown City, Ohio and Bernice McClure of Clarksville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and five great – great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother Richard Church; and two sisters, Emma Jean Watts, and Loretta Rankin.

A funeral was held Saturday, May 11, in the Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home chapel. Visitation was Friday, May 10, at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.
