2024 NFL schedule release: Jaguars to face Bears, Patriots in back-to-back London games

The Jacksonville Jaguars will officially play two games in London for a second straight year.

The team will face the Chicago Bears on Oct. 13 in Week 6 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as an "away" team and the New England Patriots the following week, Week 7, on Oct. 20 at Wembley Stadium as the "home" team, the NFL announced Wednesday morning.

Both games will be televised nationally on NFL Network at 9:30 a.m. The games will be broadcast locally on networks to be determined, likely FOX30 or CBS47.

The Jaguars will potentially get a chance to see the first and third overall picks in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Bears expect to start quarterback Caleb Williams, who was taken No. 1, while the Patriots took QB Drake Maye third. Maye will be vying with veteran Jacoby Brissett for the starting job.

Excluding the team's London trip, the Jaguars will play seven regular-season home games in Jacksonville this year and eight road games in the U.S.

Jacksonville has played 11 regular-season games in London dating back to their first matchup against the San Francisco 49ers in 2013. The team is 6-4 all-time in London. Last season, the Jaguars defeated the Atlanta Falcons at Wembley Stadium, 23-7. The following week, Jacksonville defeated the Buffalo Bills at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, 25-20.

Jaguars have never fared well against the Patriots head-to-head

16. Patriot revenge. It was the highlight reel of a dismal 2018 season. The Jaguars got a small measure of redemption from the AFC Championship heartbreak eight months earlier with a 31-20 home victory over the New England Patriots.
The Week 2 conquest before a boisterous TIAA Bank Field crowd of 68,527 marked the first time the Jaguars had beaten Brady after eight previous defeats (playoffs included). The maligned Bortles had a career day, completing 29 of 45 passes for 376 yards and 3 TDs, securing the victory on receiver Dede Westbrook's 61-yard catch-and-run to the end zone.
But the euphoria didn't last as the Jaguars lost eight of their next nine games, while New England went on to win a sixth Super Bowl. Even though Tom Brady said recently that Myles Jack was probably not down when recovering a fumble during the AFC Championship game on Jan. 21, 2018, the Jaguars have never had any luck against the Patriots in their 30-year history.

Jacksonville currently holds a 1-8 record against New England all-time, last defeating the Patriots 31-20 in 2018. The Jaguars also haven't fared well against the Patriots in the playoffs, defeating them just once in five tries, 25-10 in 1999.

The Patriots have not played in London since 2012 when they defeated the St. Louis Rams, 45-7.

How have the Jaguars fared against the Bears?

A rare opponent, the Jaguars and Bears have played just eight times in NFL history. The last time the two teams faced off, Jacksonville lost 41-17 at home, a loss that helped secure the team's eventual No. 1 pick, quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

The last time the Bears played in London was in 2019 in a 24-21 loss to the Oakland Raiders.

Who are the Jaguars' opponents in 2024?

In addition to the team's London series, the NFL will reveal the full NFL schedule, including all 17 games the Jaguars will play on Wednesday, May 15, at 8 p.m. The scheduled announcement will be televised on NFL Network, NFL.com, the NFL app and NFL+.
