W.Va. (WTRF) – Nationally, all eyes will be on West Virginia tomorrow to determine who will be the Republican nominee for Joe Manchin’s Senate seat.

Among 7 Republican candidates, there are a clear top 2: Current West Virginia Governor Jim Justice, and Representative Alex Mooney.

Mr. Mooney spoke to 7NEWS today about his final pitch to voters, and he’s standing by his past 10 years in Congress.

Mooney says the Federal government is coming after the West Virginia way of life, and he doesn’t believe Justice will push back against Federal overreach as hard as he has.

“You deserve a conservative U.S. Senator, and that’s me, Alex Mooney. I’m giving you a clear choice here. I have a proven, conservative voting record, I urge you to look at that, do your research. My opponent is a liberal, he’d literally be the most liberal Republican in the U.S. Senate. That’s not what you deserve.”

Rep. Alex Mooney, (R) Senate Candidate

If Mooney wins the seat, he says he will focus on securing the southern border, and pushing back against a recent Biden administration decision to mandate all coal power plants capture the majority of their carbon.

Justice is standing on his own conservative track record as Governor, from defending the 2nd Amendment to eliminating nearly all abortions in the Mountain State.
