And "road trip" - because here in Switzerland the best road trips are made by train.
As a general comment - the Bavarian alps are a lot lower than then mountains here. Highest mountain in Germany is the Zugspitze and that is only 2962m. In Switzerland (and particularly in the Valais) we have a lot of peaks well over 4000m. The villages in the Bavarian Alps are quainter I suppose than the ones you would find here but we have some lovely ones too - Grimentz in the Val d'Anniviers for one.
