Adrian Aleman's A Famous Ribbon rallied to win Friday's $75,000 Sam Houston Classic (G2) at Sam Houston Race Park.

Ridden by Victor Urieta Jr., A Famous Ribbon covered 440 yards in :21.640, and his margin of victory was a neck from DM Moonpie. Juan Diaz Jr. saddled the 5-year-old son of One Famous Eagle, who earned a 105 speed index and $45,000 from his first graded stakes score.

A Famous Ribbon was making his first lifetime start at Sam Houston Race Park. The gelding was bred in Texas by Weetona Stanley, and he was a $30,000 purchase at the 2020 Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City.

A Famous Ribbon is out of Fast Prize Ribbon, a winning homebred Corona Cartel mare. His second dam, the Heza Fast Man mare Fast First Prize, won the 2002 Heritage Place Futurity (G1) and was a finalist in that season's Grade 1 Texas Classic Futurity at Lone Star Park.

A Famous Ribbon was coming off of a second-place finish, a neck behind winner A Tres Of Eagle, in the April 7, 440-yard Bank of America Remington Championship Challenge (G2) at Remington Park. All told, the gelding has won seven of 16 starts -- including three stakes -- and he has banked $173,202.

San Lorenzo Jet, the 7-5 favorite, finished seventh and last.
