Alice in Chains x Mad Season
Ok so recently I started to listen to some of Mad Season songs, I never enjoyed that much because for me Layne was only great in Alice In Chains, however after I discovered that he wrote most of the songs on Mad Season. I’ve been thinking, would Mad Season be his greatest work ? Seems like in AiC Jerry was in control most of the time, so Layne didn’t had much freedom. Any Mad Season songs where Layne is on his best to recommend ? xx
Just listen to the album Above
I think the song Above is about exactly that conflict. It’s a kiss-off song about Jerry and Layne’s creative partnership.
It’s brilliant all the way through.
Wake Up and Artificial Red are so good
I like X-Ray Mind and Lifeless Dead
Not Layne but Slip Away By Mad Season is one of my favorite songs ever
Artificial Red. Both Layne and Mike bleed their souls out on that song.
Above is one of the best records to come out of that period. The additional songs with Mark Lannegan that weren’t on the initial release are just as good
I thought Mike wrote most of the music on Above.
You are correct.
Aside from ‘Wake Up’, I think’Long Gone Day’ is my favourite song, but the whole album is a masterpiece!
IMO Layne did his best work in mad season.
