Don't expect to see Stone Cold Steve Austin compete in a wrestling ring again.

"I walked away. I'm happy with what I did," he said in reference to his WrestleMania 38 match with Kevin Owens in an episode of A&E's Biography series (via Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News). "There are people who have done more and lasted more, but I've had a good career and I'm happy with it. I have nothing to prove to anyone."

Austin had been inactive for 19 years before he and Owens capped off the first night of WrestleMania in 2022 in a No Holds Barred match.

It was an ideal setting for the Texas Rattlesnake to have a final send-off. He was on the biggest show of the year and in his home state.

In addition, the way the match was laid out helped to cover for the fact he was 57 and clearly limited in what he could do. Older fans nostalgic for days gone by and newer fans unfamiliar with his work both got to see an idealized version of Austin and what made him such a legend.

The Hall of Famer didn't have the same kind of longevity compared to others from his era and the stars from younger generations. Still, he's one of the biggest names in WWE history with a legacy that's unmatched by all but a select few.

Between that and leaving on a relative high against Owens, it's easy to see why Austin is happy to stay retired for good this time.
