That's the shadowy figure of Paula Stasberg sitting with her, the scourge of every director on a Monroe film from Bus Stop to Something's Got to Give. Strasberg's presence was frequently unnerving to directors, as Monroe would virtually ignore them re any input on set, to the point of standoffs. I have read that part of her negotiation to return to SGTG was that Strasberg not be on set, and that she had accepted these terms.

They took everything away from her in the new SGTG contact, including Paula. Everything she previously won in 1955, gone.

God that must have angered her, all because she was sick and went to JFK Gala, which they approved. She had been waiting years to finish up that contract and become a free agent, and now she was locked in again. That must have really upset her, especially during such a critical time in her career when she needed the most control over projects too, let's make love being a fine example of the execs at Fox not having a damn clue.

She never did sign that new contract though from what I've read, I wonder if she would have, kinda like having a gun to her head, if she didn't sign I think she would have been done and marked Uninsurable.

I feel like she was more than an acting coach and confidente to marilyn, I find it weird that directors has a problem with her since she helping Marilyn

My favorite movie!

When I think of the misfits I feel a lot of sadness that Marilyn was used by her husband Arthur Miller to say lines that mirrored personal things that she told him in private.
