Chennai Metro Blue Line Services Affected, Check Alterative Route To Airport

Chennai Metro Rail (CMR) on Wednesday informed that the train services on the Blue Line are affected for the day due to technical glitches. Trains going from Meenambakkam to Airport Metro Stations have been cancelled for the day. The authorities have advised the commuters to plan their journey accordingly.

Chennai: Commuters travelling to Airport Metro Stations from Meenambakkam should note that the rail services at this route have been disrupted on Wednesday. Owing to which, the authorities declared that the direct metro trains between Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.Ramachandran Central Metro and Airport will stand cancelled for the day. An advisory has also been issued by the authorities for the commuters to take alternative routes. They have also advised the commuters to plan their journey accordingly.

“Passengers traveling to Airport via Green Line to interchange at Arignar Anna Alandur Metro Station. Metro Trains will run as per weekday schedule. Both Green and Blue Line is functioning normally," said the Chennai Metro Rail (CMR).

The CMR took to the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, for sharing the information regarding the rail services disruption. The authorities said the hindrance to the metro movement on the Blue Line occurred due to technical glitch.

“We are working on resolving the issue and further information will be updated soon. We regret the inconvenience caused,” read the post shared by CMR.

Alternative Route

Those travelling to Airport via Green Line can interchange at Arignar Anna Alandur Metro Station. It is worth noting that the services on the Blue Line that runs from Wimco Nagar Depot to Airport are functioning as per its weekday schedule, except for the affected section on the route.

Those intending to interchange at Green Line should know that the services on this route are normal as well. The Green Line metro rails operate from Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.Ramachandran Central Metro to St.Thomas Mount.

“Metro Trains services in the Blue Line (Wimco Nagar Depot to Airport) and Green Line (Puratchi Thalaivar Dr.M.G.Ramachandran Central Metro to St.Thomas Mount )are functioning normally as per weekday schedule," Chennai metro added.
