Adam Wingard is once again behind the wheel. The film stars Fala Chen, Alex Ferns, Dan Stevens, Brian Tyree Henry, Kaylee Hottle, and Rebecca Hall. Hottle, Henry, and Hall all return from the previous film. To stop the invasion of Earth by their ruler and his cold monster, Kong must once again join forces with Godzilla after meeting more members of his species in Hollow Earth.

The great fight is far from ended! Following the dramatic confrontation of Godzilla vs. Kong, Legendary Pictures’ Monsterverse transports spectators on an all-new journey in which Godzilla and Kong face combat against a massive, unseen threat lurking within our world.

This risk jeopardises not just their lives but also ours. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire delves further into the epic war that shaped these extraordinary creatures and permanently connected them to humanity, as well as the origin myths and mysteries of Skull Island and beyond.

The script was written by Jeremy Slater, Simon Barrett, and Terry Rossio and was based on a TOHO Co., Ltd.-owned and developed story about the character Godzilla. The producers of the film were Michael Rogers, Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Thomas Tull, and Eric McLeod. The executive producers are Kenji Okuhira, Yoshimitsu Banno, Wingard, Jennifer Conroy, and Jay Ashenfelter.

The film got mixed reviews, with several critics drawing negative parallels to Godzilla: Minus One. On a budget of $135-150 million, it became the highest-grossing Godzilla picture of all time, as well as the second-highest-grossing film of 2024, grossing $558.5 million worldwide. There are plans to make a sequel.
