A dystopian war drama, Civil War follows a not-too-distant future in which an armed conflict has broken out among the people of the United States of America. A photojournalist (Kirsten Dunst) and her colleague (Wagner Moura) try to document the situation and inform the public about it, but even they do not stand aside. All journalists have become legitimate targets of the warring parties and there is no one to guarantee their safety.
However, it seems that the war between citizens may soon be decided. The rebel forces of California and Texas (the so-called 'Western Forces') are heading towards Washington D.C. with the aim of capturing the capital by the 4th of July and overthrowing the official government. What has led to the disintegration of a state that until recently was regarded as a model of democracy, and how will the conflict ultimately play out?
