James Fraser, CEO of the Loch Katrine Steamship Trust, met today with members of the Leighton Library group looking at developing the Undercroft into a visitor welcome, interpretation and engagement space. Many thanks to James for generously sharing of his experience from many tourism destinations and projects in which he has been involved. This has included most recently work to have a new lookout tower installed in the Trossachs on the site credited with being the ‘Birthplace of Scottish Tourism’ - which is connected to the Leighton Library in that the publication in 1810 of Sir Walter Scott's "Lady of the Lake" (of which the Leighton Library has a First Edition), is the book credited with sparking the birth of Scottish tourism.
