In this situation, there is a fear of more Rohingya infiltration from Teknaf border in Cox's Bazar. Besides, the tension may spread in the hill tracts of Bangladesh. A report of the Public Security Department highlighted such fears. It has been said that the attempt of Rohingya to cross the Myanmar border in Teknaf may increase in May. Besides, infiltration by Myanmar's BGP member may also increase. According to the report of the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs, due to the situation on the Myanmar border, firearms are available there. In this case, terrorist groups can collect firearms and use those inside Bangladesh. Apart from Myanmar, the Arakan Army can also arise tension in the hilly regions of Bangladesh. 10 people have died across the country in the past week due to intense heat wave. Among them, 8 men and two women.  Five more people are admitted in different hospitals of the country due to heat stroke. The Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Department of Health reported this information at 9 am on Tuesday. According to the Department of Health, Two of the three new heat stroke deaths were reported from Madaripur district. Another from Chittagong district. The data collected till 9:00am today showed 10 deaths and five hospitalisations due to heat stroke across the country. Among the 10 people who died of heat stroke across the country, eight were men and two were women. Apart from the two in Madaripur, one heat stroke death each was reported in Chuadanga, Khulna, Habiganj, Rajbari, Jhenaidah, Lalmonirhat, Bandarban and Chittagong districts. Their age ranged from 32 to 79 years. All of their homes are in the countryside.  Public health experts believe that the number of heat stroke  victims is likely to be higher than the official estimate. First of all, the Health Department now only taking account of government hospitals not the private hospitals. Second, the notion that heat stroke would be detected by a patient's symptoms was also unclear among doctors, nurses and other health workers. Recently, officials of DGHS said that they prepared a guideline titled 'Guideline on Management of Heat Related Illness' for the treatment of heat-related illnesses. Doctors across the country are being trained in the light of this guideline through online, they added.

The temperature of the country will start decreasing from tomorrow (Wednesday) night, said the Meteorological department. It is also predicted that the awaited relief rains may occur from May 4-5 across the country. According to the Meteorological Department, The eastern part of the country is likely to receive rain the next day, which may continue till May 10. Meanwhile, the capital recorded a maximum temperature of 37°C on Tuesday morning, which is felt to be higher. Regarding the heatwave, it is said that very intense heatwave is passing over Jashore, Chuadanga, Pabna and Rajshahi districts. Intense heatwave is passing over Khulna, Dhaka and some parts of Rajshahi division. Mild to moderate heatwave is prevailing over Barishal, Rangpur and Chattogram divisions including Mymensingh district. Besides, day temperature may increase slightly and night temperature may remain almost unchanged across the country. Excess water vapor may cause discomfort.   

Schools and Madrasas have been open today (May 4(). Besides, secondary schools, colleges, madrasas and technical educational institutions in 25 districts including Dhaka have been closed on Saturday (May 4) to ensure students' health safety for the ongoing heatwave. According to the notice, the education institutions in all districts in Khulna and Rajshahi divisions, in Dhaka and Tangail district of Dhaka division, Chandpur district of Chattogram, Rangpur, Kurigram, Nilphamari, and Dinajpur district of Rangpur division have been closed today due to  extreme heat. The informatiom was informed in a press release signed by MA Khayer, Information and Public Relations officer of the Ministry of Education on Friday (May 3). It has been said that this decision has been taken based on the forecast of the Meteorological Department as intense heat is still prevailing in different parts of the country.

The fire in the Sundarbans area brought under control East Zone has been brought under control after 26 hours. This information is confirmed by Mihir Kumar Doe, conservator of Forests for Khulna region on Sunday afternoon (May 5) However, The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change said that the fire dousing efforts my continue here for the next few days to avoid risk. At the same time, the forest department, several units of firefighters, the navy, the coast guard and a helicopter of the air force, local volunteers  were involved in fire-dousing efforts. Earlier, the fire broke out on Saturday (May 4) at around 3pm. As soon as the incident was reported, people from the forest department, fire service and other government organizations reached the spot.

Turkish navy ship 'TCG Kinaliada' (F-514) has been on an expedition to the Far East, visiting at 24 ports in 20 countries during her four-and-a-half-month journey in order to increase the visibility of the Turkish Naval Forces and improve bilateral relations with the countries to be visited. In the context of her regional visit, the 'TCG Kinaliada' will carry out a port visit to Chittagong on 7-9 May 2024. 'TCG Kinaliada' is scheduled to arrive in Chittagong Port on Tuesday, 7th of May 2024 at 10.00 am.  However, Bangladesh will warmly welcome the Turkish navy ship on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Commissioned in 2019, the vessel  is the last ADA Class navy ship which was built by the İstanbul Naval Shipyard in accordance with the MİLGEM Program and integrated with Türkiye’s first national surface to surface guided missile ATMACA, developed by ROKETSAN.

Voting in the first phase of the 6th Upazila Parishad polls in 139 upazilas across Bangladesh  has ended on Wednesday afternoon (May 8). The results have started revealing after the votes are counted in the evening. According to EC sources, a total of 1,635 candidates competed in this phase. Of them, 570 are chairman candidates, 625 vice-chairman candidates and 440 female vice chairman candidates competed. Meanwhile, in the first phase, 8 candidates for the chairman post, 10 each for the vice chairman post and 10 for the female vice chairman post have already won the election unopposed. Those who are elected in the polls Dinajpur In Dinajpur, former Hakimpur upazila chairman Kamal Hossain Raj was elected unopposed. Shahinur Rahman and Parul Begum were unofficially elected vice-chairman and female vice-chairman respectively. In Birampur, Parvez Kabir was elected as chairman, Ataur Rahman as vice-chairman and Amena Khatun as female vice-chairman.  Magura In Magura Sadar upazila, Awami League organising secretary of that upazila Rana Amir Osman and Sreepur upazila Awami League member Shariat Ullah Rajon were unofficially elected as chairman. Feni Fulgazi upazila Awami League general secretary Harun Majumder unofficially elected as chairman. Besides, upazila Awami League vice-president Anil Banik elected uncontested as vice-chairman and upazila Mohila Awami League president Manjura Aziz  elected uncontested as female vice-chairman. Habiganj Iqbal Hossain Khan has been elected chairman of Baniachong upazila parishad in Habiganj. Bandarban Abdul Kuddus and Jamal Uddin were elected chairman of Sadar upazila and Alikadam upazila respectively. In Sadar upazila, Faruk Ahmed elected as vice-chairman and Mehainu Marma as female vice-chairman. Riton has been elected as vice-chairman of Alikadam upazila. Shirina Akhter has been elected as female vice-chairman. Meherpur In Meherpur Sadar, Anarul Islam elected as chairman, Hashem Ali as vice-chairman and Latifunnesa as female vice-chairman. In Mujibnagar, Amam Hossain Milu elected as chairman, BM Zahid Hasan Rajib as vice-chairman and Taklima Khatun as female vice-chairman. Chattogram In Sitakunda upazila, Ariful Alam Chowdhury Raju  elected as chairman, Golam Mohiuddin as vice-chairman and Shahinur Akhter Beauty as female vice-chairman. Shariatpur Wasel Kabir of Bhedarganj upazila and AKM Ismail Haque of Naria upazila were unofficially elected. Among them, Wasel Kabir took part in the election for the first time.  Gazipur Eejadur Rahman Milon, expelled vice-president of Gazipur district BNP and former upazila chairman, has been elected unofficially elected as upazila chairman in Gazipur sadar upazila.  Chandpur Professor Sirajul Mostafa Talukder has been elected chairman of Matlab south upazila in Chandpur. Mohammad Manik elected in Matlab north upazila  as chairman. Nazma Akhter Ankhi has been elected as female vice-chairman of Matlab south. Shawkat Hossain Badal has been elected uncontested to the post of vice-chairman. Reazuddin Riaz has been elected vice-chairman of Matlab north. Lovely Chowdhury has been elected uncontested to the post of female vice-chairman.
