Why do some people online claim the song Spiderwebs by No Doubt is about Liam? I can't find any context or evidence behind the claim but I've heard it multiple times. Can anybody explain?

"The opening track of No Doubt’s 1995 album Tragic Kingdom, and the second single from the album. Written by vocalist Gwen Stefani and bassist Tony Kanal, “Spiderwebs” is about a man who had been calling Gwen at all hours to recite bad poetry to her, seemingly unaware of the fact that these constant calls bothered her a lot."
"There was a real caller who inspired this song. "I always had a boyfriend, so I never had to deal with guys trying to go out with me," Stefani explained in a video No Doubt posted. "But there was this one guy and he used to call me in the middle of the night and try to sing me poetry on the phone or play acoustic guitar for 15 minutes. I didn't know how to get off the phone. Giving this guy my number was the biggest regret of my life."
She says the guy doesn't know the song is about him, and she and Kanal are the only ones who know his identity.

I heard this in a YouTube short a while back as well and tried to research it and found absolutely nothing. Seems like somebody either misremembered it and the idea spread, or people are just spreading fake information around.

I saw the same short you're probably thinking of. There doesn't seem to be any evidence about this being true anywhere online but, still, maybe this guy knows something we don't. I love Liam, he's possibly in my top 3 greatest singers of all time, but I could see this being true. The only thing to me that would seem odd is that Gwen is American and I've never heard of Liam being into anything American at all, let alone women.
