Peterson, Don Louis 89, of Lake City, MN, passed away at his home in Lake City on Sunday, May 5, 2024. He was born on October 18, 1934, in Afton, MN to Lance and Luella (Bondeson) Peterson. He attended high school in St. Paul Park, and then went on to Luther College for three years. Don was in sales at 3M for many years which had him and his family making moves to Greensboro, North Carolina and Lawrenceville, Georgia. After moving back to St. Paul, MN he then went to work at Bailey's Nursery as an Agronomist and Entomologist where he met his dear friend Emmet and worked there until his retirement. In his free time, he loved to spend time gardening and planting flowers. He also enjoyed hiking and going for walks, playing golf, and bird watching. Much of his spare time was spent with family and dear friends. He truly loved people and never met a stranger. His wonderful neighbors in Lake City were also very dear friends and during the winters he spent in Orange Beach, Alabama at the SeaChase Resort he created friendships with so many others. Don is survived by his four daughters, Dawn Korolchuk, Barbara (Buzz) Comstock, Elizabeth Faust, and Sarah Geschwind; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer (Brandon) Allen, Nicole Korolchuk, Tom Korolchuk, Jeff (Jordyn) Larrive, Sarah Larrive, Jessica Faust, and Indigo (Nick) Jicha; 2 great-grandchildren, Jewel, and Barrett; many nieces and nephews; and his former wife Candace Peterson. He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, Wayne, Dick, Dean, Joyce, and Janice, and a granddaughter, Jasmine Geschwind. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel, with an open mic for the last hour for anyone who would like to speak. The interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery in the Garden Mausoleum in Minneapolis on Monday, May 20th at 2:00 p.m. Family suggests memorials to the City of Lake City, Hok-Si-La Park, Attn: Bruce Wallerich, 205 West Center Street, Lake City, MN 55041 in memory of Don Peterson.
