Bruno Mars or Bruninho, as he is known by Brazilian fans, returns to Brazil in October this year to perform eight shows in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasília.

This will be the artist's fourth visit to the country, who was in Brazil for the first time in 2012 and the last last year, after two big shows that took place in the 1st edition of The Town festival, in September 2023, in the capital of São Paulo.

In addition to his great solo hits such as “Locked out of Heaven”, “24K Magic” and “Just The Way You Are”, the singer is part of the American R&B group, Silk Sonic, alongside Anderson .Paak.

Together, they have other big hits such as “Leave the Door Open” and “Smokin Out The Window”, released in 2021.

Bruno Mars' real name is Peter Gene Hernandez

Many people don't know, but Bruno Mars' real name is Peter Gene Hernandez. However, from an early age he adopted the nickname Bruno because his father thought he looked like professional wrestler Bruno Sammartino.

“I think I was a chunky little baby, so my dad used to call me that as a nickname,” the artist mentioned in an interview with Rap Up in 2010.

Regarding Mars, which is Mars in English, Bruno gave the following explanation to the vehicle: “Mars came about just because I felt like it didn't have any special touch, and a lot of girls say I'm out of this world, so I thought, I guess that I’m from Mars.”

The singer has already been arrested for drug possession

In 2010, the “Locked Out Of Heaven” singer was booked on suspicion of drug possession in Las Vegas. According to a Billboard article at the time, the arrest was made the day after Bruno performed at the Hard Rock Hotel Casino in Las Vegas on September 18 of that year.

Also according to the publication, Mars was found with 2.6 grams of a “white powder substance” believed to be cocaine. He was released at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday after being taken to a local detention center.

In his mugshot, the traditional photo taken after arrest, Bruno Mars smiles. At the time, he explained to GQ magazine that he didn't know why he was smiling: “I have no idea,” he replied, laughing. “It was a photo.”

Bruninho was born in Hawaii

The artist was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and grew up in a very musical family. His father, Pete, was a Latin percussionist from Brooklyn, and his mother, Bernadette, was a singer.

This year, he turns 39 on October 8th and will perform at the Morumbis Stadium, in São Paulo, to celebrate the date. In a recent interview with the program “Fantástico” (Globo), the singer revealed his desire to spend his birthday on Brazilian soil.

“The shows in Brazil are always different because the energy of the people is different. The last time was so amazing that now I want to celebrate my birthday there,” she confessed.

Artist since childhood

In addition to being musically influenced by his family, Bruno took to the stage early. At age 4, he joined the family's musical group as an Elvis impersonator and quickly became one of the stars of the show.

He continued to perform with his family throughout his childhood, and as he approached adolescence, he added Michael Jackson covers to his repertoire of impersonations.

During an interview on “Carpool Karaoke” with James Corden in 2016, Bruno revealed that it was at age 4 that he realized he would like to be a singer when he grew up.

I was impersonating Elvis Presley in my father's 1950s rock 'n' roll revue in Waikiki,” he tells the host.

Your band already had family members and even a Brazilian

In addition to singing and dancing in his shows, Bruno Mars is accompanied by his musicians who perform on stage alongside him. One of these artists is Eric Hernandez , his brother. Known as “E-Panda”, Bruno’s older brother is a drummer and was also in Brazil during The Town’s shows in 2023.

On the other hand, it is worth remembering that a Brazilian member was already present in Bruno Mars' band. Matthew Asato Maju Trindade's husband, became the band's guitarist in December 2021 and also participated in the residency “An Evening With Silk Sonic”, a side project by Bruno Mars together with Anderson Paak.
