Pagasa: Cloudy skies, rain in Batanes, Babuyan Island due to shear line

MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies and rain may be expected in portions of extreme northern Luzon due to the shear line while warm and humid weather may be experienced in Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to easterlies on Saturday, the state weather agency said.
In a morning forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the shear line is anticipated to mainly affect Batanes and Babuyan Island.
“Makakapal na kaulapan sa hilagang bahagi ng ating bansa ay patuloy na epekto ng shear line sa area ng extreme northern luzon kaya sa mga lugar na nabanggit ngayong araw makararanas tayo ng mga kalat kalat na pagulan na may pag kulog at kidlat,” Pagasa weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said.

“Dito sa Metro Manila at nalalabing bahagi ng bansa ay easterlies naman ang weather system na makakaapekto kaya magpapatuloy itong mainit at maalinsangang panahon umaga hanggang sa tanghali,” he added.
(Here in Metro Manila and the rest of the country, easterlies will be the weather system that would affect the areas so these areas will continue to have hot and humid weather from morning to noon.)
From afternoon until evening, however, localized thunderstorms are expected to bring sudden and short rain showers over Metro Manila and the rest of the country, according to Villamil.
Meanwhile, the Pagasa expert reported that the state weather agency has not monitored any weather disturbance or low-pressure area that will likely enter or form within the Philippine area of responsibility in the next few days.
Villamil likewise said Pagasa did not raise any gale warning over any of the country’s seaboards for May 18.
