University of Wales Trinity Saint David Regional Academy Spotlight

In the last of our Regional Academy spotlights, we focus on the University of Wales Trinity Saint David Regional Academy, their motivation, and the skills that Head Coach Nicole Howells is teaching her athletes.

In the heart of Carmarthen, at the UWTSD Sports Centre, budding athletes train every Saturday, driven by their passion for sports and the pursuit of excellence. This is where the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) Regional Academy comes to life, a hub of dedication and talent, shaping the future stars of sports.

Under the stewardship of Head Coach Nicole Howells, the academy has recently focused its efforts on transitional work and ball retention. Nicole reflects on the past month, highlighting the players’ growth as they implemented these skills in game situations, honing their decision-making abilities along the way. Fixture matches against Bridgend RA provided the perfect platform for players to put their training into action, emphasising the competitive edge instilled within the academy.

The UWTSD Regional Academy isn’t just about training sessions; it’s a community where athletes thrive, supported by a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect. Whether they’re seasoned players or newcomers, each individual brings a unique energy to the court, embodying professionalism and dedication. Nicole expresses her admiration for the commitment displayed by these athletes, acknowledging the inspiring journey they embark on collectively.
