Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney said she was 'moved to tears' over Ricky Hatton just days after the boxer opened up about their new romance for the first time. The couple first got tongues wagging about a relationship after being spotted on a series of pub dates earlier in the year.

Ricky and Claire, who met earlier this year when taking part in Dancing on Ice, then stepped out on the red carpet together for the first time last month at the welcoming night of the £365m Co-op Live Arena. They have since enjoyed a holiday to Tenerife together earlier this month before returning back to the UK.

And last Sunday (May 12), Ricky was seen on the red carpet at the BAFTA Television Awards 2024 after his Sky documentary, Hatton, was up for a gong.

While Claire, 53, wasn't by his side on the night, the actress, currently playing Cassie Plummer in ITV's Corrie, did share a message on social media which read: "Good luck tonight darling @bafta. So proud of you @rickhitmanhatton."

When on the red carpet, Ricky was asked about his and Claire's recent holiday to which he replied to The Sun: "It was great! Claire is like me, I’ve met someone who I get on with like a house on fire. She is just like me. We spend our whole time laughing together. Claire is just like me - she’s so down to earth."

The 45-year-old added: "She would never turn a picture down with a fan and she’s always got time for people. That’s what I really like about her. We’ve just been having good fun."

Claire has now returned to social media having rewatched Ricky's nominated documentary, which missed out on the prestigious gong to former Paralympic champion Ellie Simmonds and her film, Finding My Secret Family, and she shared how it left her feeling emotional.

Again alongside a poster for the documentary, the former Brookside star wrote: "Rewatched your documentary last night @rickyhitmanhatton it moved more to tears! So honest and raw. Brilliantly made by @noahmediagroup @dews_ex_machina on @skytv. Well worthy of the @bafta nomination."

Meanwhile. Claire has been reflecting on joining Corrie ahead marking a year on the ITV soap this summer as Cassie Plummer. She shared a picture from inside the show's building which showed the wall had been covered in the iconic snap ofEna Sharples looking over the early 60s industrial landscape of the city.

"I remember when I cam for my audition for @coronationstreet and saw this photo on the staircase, having done a self-tape in my bedroom," Claire wrote alongside the image which she posted alongside the Coronation Street theme tune. "The magnitude and reality of where I was hit me. Feel very blessed to be in this show."
