My Citation Guide: for those who don't use reference managers

Resource/Study
  1. Search of Copy and paste the studies title into Google

When opening results on Google, you can use this method to open them faster and not have to go back to the Google page: if you are on Mac = hold the 'command key' and click on the hyperlinked date within the in-text citation. if on Windows hold the 'ctrl' key and click the hyperlinked date within the in-text citation: more on this here: https://www.wikihow.com/Open-a-Page-in-a-New-Window )

Open a few versions of the same study in different journals and look through to see if any have the citation already formatted; if so, take it and go; if not, export one in endnote format if they have a button for that

If you need to export it it usually has a few formats, I prefer the endnote format (to open this you need to download endnote downloading endnote and, using that, download the citation, and it automatically formats it to APA7, which you can copy and you are done (get endnote 20 here https://support.clarivate.com/Endnote/s/article/Download-EndNote?language=en_US )

If these websites don't have the citation or no export feature, you can try step 3 or format it yourself. I am familiar now with step 3, and its much faster than formatting it yourself.

2. ChatGPT: open a ChatGPT chat and put in this prompt in the same message before pasting your information; "format this into APA7..." in the same message, copy and paste the whole top half of any of the webpages you opened with the study, make sure it has the title, journal name, date, doi link author. Don't worry about there being other content in the message such as advertisements and stuff as ChatGPT will look for what it needs to make the reference. You can also use this method for other kind of references such as websites as long as yo ucopy in all the information you need. Here is all the information you'll need about APA7 requirements:

https://guides.library.uq.edu.au/referencing/apa7/book

https://guides.library.uq.edu.au/referencing/apa7/book-chapter

https://guides.library.uq.edu.au/referencing/apa7/webpage

Sometimes, I just skip to step 3 because I find it faster and more accurate than the rest of the steps, as not all journals format their references properly.
