2 men stabbed, minor mauled in Jaro

ILOILO City – Four individuals were attacked by two suspects in Barangay Tacas, Jaro district around 1:40 a.m. yesterday.

Jaro police said Bernard Española, 19, sustained a stab wound on his back while Mike Española, 20, was stabbed on his left shoulder.

The 16-year-old alias “Mik-mik” was mauled and their other companion, Guillermo Española, managed to flee and was unharmed.

All four were residents of Sitio Dike, Barangay Cubay, Jaro.

The victims were brought to West Visayas State University Medical Center.

According to Police Master Sergeant Ruel Fernandez of the Jaro Police Station, while on their way home from Pavia town, the victims’ motorcycle encountered a mechanical problem, prompting them to stop and fix it.

Fernandez added that suspect identified as Elias John Gardoce, 21, of Barangay Anilao, Pavia, and his unidentified companion suddenly attacked the victims for no apparent reason.

As of this writing, Jaro police were still conducting hot pursuit operation against the suspects who fled after the incident./PN
