They’ll make a season and cancel it like they did Deadly Class.

Netflix is where art goes to die.

Funny we're not talking about Netflix.

This is one of my favorite horror comics. As some one who also loves Deadly Class, I’m not sure how to feel about this. I mean, first and foremost, I’m happy for for the creators to get paid! Then I just hope they find some traction and are able to do the story justice and it’s not cancelled after a season, like some of my other favorites have been (Y, Paper Girls, Swamp Thing, etc).

EDIT: I want to spend positive energy to the show. Good luck.

Swamp Thing was pretty good IMO. There is zero excuse for not being able to make a good adaptation of Y with the great source material they have to work from.

I’ve boycotted SyFy after they cancelled Deadly Class and Krypton which were both amazing!

Maybe I’ll give em a chance, just don’t want to be devestated again

Boycotting for canceled shows when boycotting will only get more shows canceled. Good logic, since your one view apparently decides what shows get canceled. 🙄

Yeah it’s really not that serious of a boycott. I just don’t want to get hooked into a really good show only for it get cancelled 🤷‍♂️

If it’s not on a streaming platform then I almost just assume and expect a show to get canceled after the first season, if they even make it that long.

TV is so competitive now compared to then then I do worry many comics will get optioned and ordered then canceled before they get a chance

Happy to hear they make a TV series. (Especially for Seeley). But hopefully this will lead to a reprint of deluxe edition 2.

Whats even the point of making these shows if theyre just gonna get cancelled immediately

I want to be excited about this, but SyFy doesn’t know how to treat comic book adaptations. They’d rather do crappy, low-budget sci-fi movies…

The show is based on Revival for those like me who prefer the click saving comment.

All I want is a Spawn live action show, I remember there were plans on making a Sam and Twitch live action that would involve Spawn but it never could get off the ground.

I get the appeal of entertainment for the sake of entertainment but I don't think the edgy 90s hyper violence with often questionable writing has the same appeal to today's audiences

u/monkey_juicer avatar

People still love insane violence today, that's not an issue. The writing can be improved, as long as they don't make the writing PC.

u/cqandrews avatar

For sure, invincible for example is super popular but it also has great writing whereas with spawn that's not the first thing I think of tbh. Not sure what you mean about making the writing pc

Politically Correct, meaning updated morals. I don't mind Political correctness when done right but Hollywood has a VERY bad track record of doing it right. For example I'm Bisexual, I'd love to see more representation, but I'd rather have no representation over bad representation.

A live action Spawn with Jamie Foxx was announced a few years ago & has been in development hell since.
