Yeah the handles are terrible. I got some cheap silicone handles from temu meant for lodge pans. They dont fit that great but its manageable.sirxterminator wrote: ↑ I got 2 of the 12 inch when it was on sale last year for 12.99.
Glad a have a welder, I cut off the terrible handles and welded on a Rock stainless steel handle that is comfortable and does not conduct heat from the pan to the handle

Amazon Warehouse Deals has a "Like New" Victoria 6.5" Cast Iron Skillet for $12.41, made in Colombia. It's heavier for sure, but at 2 lbs it shouldn't be a big issue for most.

The handle is flat so you can wrap it in a dry towel and still have a firm grip and full control while flipping, etc. You can get comfy silicon covers but I'd always prefer the towel option.

I'd be interested in the comfy silicone covers if anyone has links.RedFlagCrake wrote: ↑ The handle is flat so you can wrap it in a dry towel and still have a firm grip and full control while flipping, etc. You can get comfy silicon covers but I'd always prefer the towel option.

Just FYI, don't use a silicone sleeve when taking a carbon steel pan out of the oven, just for the stove top. I see a few on Amazon, we used to have OXO ones in a kitchen I worked and I still have some at home, but it looks like the only OXO ones I can find come with a pan. Or rather the pan comes with them.

Good advice though i don't use pots or pans in the oven anyways, too easy to put in a wrong one and wreck it. Or use too high a temperature for items that can only take a low temp.RedFlagCrake wrote: ↑ Just FYI, don't use a silicone sleeve when taking a carbon steel pan out of the oven, just for the stove top. Oh and i used to have a roommate in post secondary who would warm up his delivered pizza in the box it came in, from fridge to oven at 350! And one who regularly put corelle dinner plates in the oven. Somehow both never had any problems.

Can you provide more information, a link or picture that states the model/price, what makes it much better quality?kimchibowl wrote: ↑ Costco business centre have the Japanese one much better quality for twice the cost for those who don't mind
