Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced a 15-player squad for South African men’s upcoming three-match T20I series in the West Indies. The series, set to be played between May 23 and May 26 in Jamaica, serves as a prelude for both sides ahead of next month’s 2024 T20 World Cup.

Aiden Markram, who is set to lead South Africa at the World Cup, has been rested from the series against West Indies alongside David Miller. Rassie van der Dussen has been appointed as Proteas captain instead for the brief tour in the absence of a regular skipper.

In lieu of the impending T20 World Cup 2024 next month, CSA has rested a number of senior players from their 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series in West Indies. David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen are among the senior players rested by the selection committee, alongside regular limited-overs skipper Aiden Markram.

Rassie van der Dussen, who was excluded from South Africa’s T20 World Cup 2024 group, has been assigned to lead the team in the absence of Markram against West Indies. Here is a look at South Africa’s entire squad as well as the schedule for their upcoming three-match T20I series in the Caribbean:

Each of the three matches will be hosted by Sabina Park in Jamaica on May 23, May 25 and May 26. A couple of days after the conclusion of the series, South African players will play an intra-squad match in Florida as part of their 2024 T20 World Cup preparations.

The Proteas are placed in Group D of the tournament alongside Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and the Netherlands. Under the leadership of Aiden Markram, they will commence their 2024 T20 World Cup campaign with a match against Sri Lanka at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York on June 3.
