Students commit to becoming educators

Students commit to becoming educators signing day

Congratulations to the Bonney Lake High School and Sumner High School students who participated in the Teaching Academy and Educators Rising Signing Day this week. These students signed letters of intent to attend a college or university to pursue a career in education. Teaching Academy is a class that is offered to students who are interested in becoming educators. Educators Rising is a co-curricular opportunity for students interested in becoming an educator to get involved in teacher-focused competitions, an educational honor society and other curriculum enhancements.

Pierce College offers a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science of Teaching, which leads to dual teaching endorsements in both preschool through 3rd grade (P-3) General Education and P-3 Special Education, enabling graduates to teach from birth to grades 3 in Washington state. In addition, students who complete their education and return to apply for a job with the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District are guaranteed an interview.

Join us in congratulating these students!
