Don’t be a bystander Pink Shirt Day message
It’s Pink Shirt day today in Aotearoa, with the anti-bullying campaign growing from strength to strength.
Organiser Astley Nathan says over 30,000 pink shirts have been sold this year – and they’re still on sale at Cotton On.
He says there’s widespread support for the kaupapa.
“One in five people experience workplace bullying. I think 32 percent of tamariki have experienced bullying at kura so it’s still around, it’s still kind of happening and it’s really important we acknowledge and tackle that and wipe out bullying here in Aotearoa,” Mr Nathan says.
This year’s campaign is calling on people to be an upstander, not a bystander, which means standing up for people being bullied.
