Academy Sports + Outdoors opens first Ohio store Monday in Northpointe Center
The first store opening in Ohio brings 60 new jobs to Zanesville
ZANESVILLE − Academy Sports + Outdoors will open its first Ohio location in the Northpointe Center at 3925 Gorsky Drive Monday, bringing 60 new jobs to the community in its 55,000-square-foot space.
The grand opening with prizes and specials will be May 31 through June 2.
“Families are invited to stop in for free events including gift card giveaways, interactive demonstrations by brands sold at Academy Sports + Outdoors, and an in-store treasure hunt,” said Grace Carter, senior public relations specialist for Academy Sports of the grand opening weekend. “(We have) specifically curated the assortment of the store to serve the needs of the local community here in Ohio. Whether an outdoorsman is looking for hunting and fishing gear or if a Buckeye fan is gearing up for a big game, Academy has everything they need to have fun out there.”
A $5,000 donation will be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Zanesville on May 30, supporting the store’s long-held mission of giving back to its communities.
“Academy will take 30 kids with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Zanesville on a shopping spree at our new store on Thursday, May 30,” Carter said. “Each kid will receive a $100 Academy gift card to shop the store for all new apparel, shoes, sports gear, camping equipment, and more. Academy will donate an additional $2,000 to the organization for any sports equipment and gear it may need this summer.”
Carter said they are excited to have their first Ohio store in Zanesville.
“We’re looking forward to building relationships throughout the Zanesville area to support and create new opportunities for customers to have fun out there,” said Carter. “By opening in Northpointe Center, our store will be a convenient location for active-minded families to make fun memories through fitness, the outdoors, weekend activities, team sports, and so much more.”
Academy Sports + Outdoors has 285 stores across 19 states. It’s headquartered in Katy, Texas, which is a suburb of Houston.
