One of my favourite actresses that I wish would appear just as much as the other big 3s (Jessica/Kathy/Angela, Sarah/Evan/Lily, Emma/Billie/Leslie). She could’ve easily made up the missing number 3 alongside Denis/Franny, right?
Retrospectively, who could she have played since her first appearance in Coven?
Roanoke: Real Thomasin White/The Butcher
Apocalypse: Madelyn (Satanist follower that helps Michael, instead played by Harriett Sansom Harris).
1984: Chef Bertie (instead played by Tara Karsian)
Double Feature: Martha Edwards (landlord/council member, instead played by Robin Weigert).
NYC: The “Something’s Coming” lady on the subway trains (but in a more expanded role).
Delicate: Virginia Harding (instead played by Debra Monk).
Just to be clear, I love all of the actresses above. But just speaking retrospectively lol.
As much as I hated Alicia in Coven, the actress was an instant sympathy. She knows what she does, very charismatic woman. And in Hotel her character was a jam to watch for sure
I love her sm in Hotel she is so funny
I feel like she doesn’t get enough credit for how amazing she is as an actor.
Agreed! She is so great! Her in hotel was my favorite!❤️
She was incredible in Dopesick.
Yes! Such a good (albeit depressing) show.
It’s very depressing yeah. I thought about it for weeks after I finished it. It’s so good but gosh it’s so hard to watch.
I think she's probably the most underrated (semi) staple actor by far.
Need her back in AHS 14 Whiteout set in an Alaskan ski lodge where she is the owner
I am going to get downvoted to hell but for years i thought she was the same actress that played Red on OItNB and Janeway on Voyager. I haven’t watched any seasons since Apocalypse but recently rewatched coven and realized how incorrect I was. Kate mulgrew and mare winningham are two separate entities.
I thought the same!! They have something similar even in their mannerism
She is legit.
She’s an amazing actress because honestly I didn’t even know she played Kyles mom and Miss Evers, I thought it was 2 actresses that looked a lot alike 😭
Absolutely hated her character in coven, which makes her a great actress!.
Last night I watched a movie from the 80s called “Miracle Mile” and was so excited to see her in one of the starring roles! I then found out she and her co-star Anthony Edwards both went on to marry other people, divorce those people, and eloped in 2021 - such a fun little story. Happy birthday, Mare!!
Great all round of course but the character in hotel is hilarious.
Underrated
I thought she was so believable as Sally in Cult. Effortless and so intelligent. I love when she tells Kai he’s not a conservative- he’s a reactionary. She had some great lines.
She should’ve had a bigger role in Cult
65??!!! No way does she look anywhere near 65
this lady is cool as shit
she is so underrated
I hate her characters in coven and freak show but I didn’t mind her.. happy 65th birthday
I want her back on the show so bad. It’s weird because everyone seem to love her but she’s often overlooked as one of the heavy hitters of the show. I guess it’s probably because her roles were small except for her role in Hotel as Mrs Evers which was just as great a performance as anyone of the heavy hitters have done.
Strong agree. Though I do note she does do a lot of work (movies, shows, and stage) outside of AHS, which likely limits her availability.
That makes sense. I she was in The Outsider series and she was great though her role was small. I highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it.
She also did really well in Dopesick ☺️
she’s so underrated i love her in Cult so fucking much
What? We were born in the same day?
Also, dealing with the government to sign up for social security is a pain.
I love her as Miss. Evers
As much as I’ve loved her characters….. The role she played as Kyle’s mom in Coven 😮💨 That was fucking rough dude.
Absolutely sickening. But I also think Rita was despicable. She allowed her sister (Pepper) to be abused by her husband, falsely convicted of murder of their baby, and admitted to an insane asylum. Sinister!!
She dated Val Kilmer in high school; they were high school sweethearts
Miss Evers !!!!!
