Default Fake "Sam Ash" guitar scam on Facebook

Alert, there is a company that is claiming it is selling guitars at 90% off as the Sam Ash going out of business sale. They are running ads on Facebook. It's a scam.

Another good reason to never buy anything on Facebook or other, non-verifiable source. If it seems too good...................

My wife fell for a Facebook pop up that appeared to be an LL Bean sale. She might as well have lit our wood stove with a couple of hundred dollar bills.

Default ALL 90% off sales on FB are scams, as are most other types

These are so common that I wonder why Zuck isn't indicted on conspiracy / theft charges. One of so many dozens going the rounds now is Merrill hiking boots for $20 or so.

It's a numbers game: Victim orders via credit card or paypal (supposedly having protection), scammer simply waits for Victim to forget that Item was never delivered until after the 45 day period. Or Scammer emails in response after Victim contacts, "So sorry, supply line issues - thanks for your patience and we'll be shipping this week!" Then, nothing.

This one is sort of interesting in that it's obviously targeting people who've heard Ash is going out of business and so are not made suspicious by big discount offers. Scammer did some research for once. Not that that's a good thing.

The fake Ash ads are still appearing on facebook.

The real Sam Ash site now has the following notice:

We only sell through our official website, our stores, our Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/SamAshMusicStores and Reverb.com

All Websites Claiming to be related to Sam Ash other than www.samash.com are Fraudulent. Most are operated outside the US and will take your money but are unable to fulfill your order. We are not responsible for orders placed on them.

Ah yes. One more reason to completely avoid social media altogether.

Yeah,

So I reported the ad to the FB sheriffs, and this is the FB reply:

"We didnt remove the ad
To keep our review process as fair as possible, we use the same Advertising Standards to review reports.
Weve taken a look and found that this ad doesnt go against our Advertising Standards.
Because you reported it, we wont show this ad to you again. You can also influence the ads you see by hiding ads or changing your ad preferences.
If you disagree with the decision to not take the ad down, you can request a review
."

Again, I think Zuckerberg and company are an interesting study.

Wow. "Appalling" is the right word for that response.

Unbelievable. So glad I don't "do" FB anymore, though it was really never a big part of my life to begin with. What a bummer. Someone will fall for that ad.

I reported it on 3 different adds.
I'm waiting for Facebook to tell me to mine my own business.
