Just three years it was one from bottom of the national league table, the University of Suffolk has reached its top half.

It is the joint highest climber in this year’s Complete University Guide league table - shooting up 22 places.

The guide's 2025 table now puts the University of Suffolk in 58th position nationally out of 130 institutions.

It is the third successive year the university has climbed by 20 places or more soaring from 106th two years ago to its current position. In 2021 it was 129th out of 130.

As well as its headquarters on the Ipswich waterfront, the university also runs courses in Bury St Edmunds, Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth.

The Complete University Guide is based on ten measures including entry standards, student satisfaction, research quality, graduate prospects, spending on academic services and spending on student facilities.

The Guide groups courses areas into 12 themes and revealed the University’s childhood studies courses ranked third in the country, an improvement of two positions from last year.

Overall graduate prospects and students satisfaction in art and design courses are ranked at number one.

Every year the Complete University Guide releases UK university and subject league tables to support prospective students in making informed decisions about their future.

The news follows on from last month’s Whatuni Student Choice Awards, known as the WUSCAs, which saw the University of Suffolk win the Submission Award Category on the theme of career coaching and work placements, demonstrating the University’s commitment to supporting students’ career developments.

Commenting on the new league table, Vice-Chancellor Professor Helen Langton said: “We are absolutely delighted to see the University of Suffolk move even further up the Complete University Guide league table.

“This reflects our hard work across the whole university and our focus on the experience of our students. It also demonstrates the quality of our provision as an ambitious higher education institution.

“The people of Suffolk can be proud of the achievements of their university and students can be confident in choosing us to study at as we support their futures.”
