For some folks, they got their first set of wheels at a very young age. We’re not talking about the ones you get in showrooms though. That comes much later in life. Instead, we’re talking about pedal cars; ride-on cars as they call it these days.

Today’s selection of ride-on cars is as vast as ever. You can get a Hilux for your little one these days, or if you’re prefer something sleeker, there’s even a Mazda MX-5. But say you’re a Ford fan and you want to (indirectly) influence your child’s love for the Blue Oval, boy do we have something for you.

Dear parents, we present to you the Ford Ranger ride-on car. What you’re looking at here is a legit, officially licensed product, too. That means the Ranger’s image and likeness is present in this miniature pickup. If that’s not enough, the ride-on car is based on the Wildtrak variant. There are three colors available, namely Luxe Yellow (listed as orange in this case), Meteor Grey, and Blue Lightning. Yes, they used the real colors from the Ranger.

Specs, you ask? It’s rear wheel drive with a 30 watt motor that powers it. There are two forward gears and one reverse, and a full charge can get you ‘up to two ours of continuous fun’. Charging takes six to eight hours, and there’s a remote control for parents to control the mini pickup’s direction if needed.

For safety conscious parents, they’ll be glad to know that it comes with a pair of seat belts. The doors also have a safety lock, while the rear axle has suspension to make the ride smoother. As a bonus, it even has USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Kids have it good these days, even on these ride-on cars.

With its 30 watt motor, it obviously won’t go as fast as mom or dad’s full-sized Ranger. That said, the Ranger’s turbodiesel engine note is played through its speakers once it’s ‘started up’ for a more realistic feeling. Top speed is limited to 5kph, or about as fast as a Ranger creeping forward in drive.

How much is it, then? On sale in Australia now, you can get one of these for 500 Australian dollars. At current conversion rates, that’s around P19,000. It sounds like a lot of money, but at least it’s a lot less than the Ranger Wildtrak 4x2’s list price of P1,604,000.

For now, the big Ranger will have to wait for your kid, but at least this ride-on version can easily fit in the bed.
