There’s a crazy amount of recency bias going on here…

Raw and It Follows are my favorites.

We're All Going to the World's Fair is one of the most garbage movies I've ever had the displeasure of watching. It was a movie about nothing.

Bro you just posted cringe

It was Gilbert Gottfried (with some help from Svengoolie?) who related the Universal monsters to "coming of age":

The Frankenstein monster is figuratively a small child (unable to control his body or understand).

The Wolf Man is figuratively a child going through puberty (growing hair everywhere and in unexpected places, urges he cannot control).

Dracula is figuratively a horny adult (biting women on the neck is for him like a mortal making out).

The Mummy is figuratively a decrepit senior (bandages).

The Invisible Man is figuratively a being who no longer exists--a dead person.
