Gilbreath Named to All-MEAC Second Team

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk State junior Rylie Gilbreath garnered an All-MEAC Second Team accolade, announced by the league office on Tuesday evening.
Gilbreath makes her second career appearance on an All-MEAC team after landing on the third team last year.
The recognition comes after a terrific regular season from Gilbreath who led the Spartans in six statistical categories: batting average (.353), hits (49), doubles (10), home runs (6), RBI (20), and slugging percentage (.554).
In the MEAC, she ranked first in homeruns, second in total bases (78), fifth in hits, sixth in doubles, seventh in batting average, and third in slugging percentage.
Her best performances of the year included a 2-for-4 showing against Youngstown State on Mar. 8 with 3 RBIs. Three days later she had a 3-for-3 day with four RBIs against Quinnipiac.
Gilbreath was named Co-Player of the Week after hitting .583 across a three-game stretch against Maryland Eastern Shore. She accumulated three doubles, two home runs, seven hits, four RBIs, and a stolen base in the series.
Gilbreath tallied four home runs across a seven game stretch from Mar. 22-Apr. 7.
