NRUTYAMBADA CONCLUDES WITH ODISSI DANCE, SAMBALPURI DANCE, PALLI NRUTYA & ODISSI DANCE BALLET
Bhubaneswar(18/05/2024): Nrutyambada, the 37th Annual Dance Festival of Orissa Dance Academy concluded with the performances of Odissi dance, Sambalpuri dance, Palli Nrutya & Odissi Dance Ballet by the students of the institution.
The festival was conducted by the senior performer, teacher and members and staff of the Orissa Dance Academy. The dignitaries who graced the occasion were Guru Dhaneswar Swain, Eminent Mardala Player, Pravati Kar, Renowned Odissi Dancer, Dr.Sidharth Mohanty, Member, Orissa Dance Academy, Guru Dr.Aruna Mohanty, Secretary, Orissa Dance Academy and Madhusmita Mohanty, Joint Secretary, Orissa Dance Academy. This year in the field of Odissi dance Orissa Dance Academy presented ODA Utkarsh Samman 2024 to Guru Bijay Kumar Dash, Ardhana Padhi Smruti Samman 2024 presented to Smt.
Madhusmita Naik and ODA Nabaraga Samman 2024 presented to Chinmaya Behera. The first programme of the evening was Shivam Dhimahi tribute to the Lord of dance, Nataraja, Lord Shiva - the greatest among gods presented by Subham Kumar Ojha & Sayani Chakrabarty.
The dance choreographed by Guru Aruna Mohanty, rhythm composed by Guru Dhaneswar Swain, music composed by Sukanta Kundu and script prepared by Pandit Nityananda Mishra.
Next item was Badya Madhuri the name itself means the sweet cadence of Badya or percussion instruments.
This presentation was a pure dance conceptualized on the use and importance of Badya in Odissi dance and music.
The Dance Choreographed & Directed by Guru Pabitra Kumar Pradhan and Music Composed by Guru Dhaneshwar Swain followed by Swagatam (Palli Nrutya) performed by the junior dancers of Orissa Dance Academy.
The Dance Choreographed & Directed by Chinmay Behera, Bhimsen Baral, Sandhyarani Sahoo & Shruti Behera.
Next presentation was Maira Dada (Sambalpuri) based on Dhemsa, a tribal dance form of Odisha.
The Dance Choreographed & Directed by Niladri Samal, Suchusmita Sahoo, Shreepunya Mohanty & Ananya Parida followed by another Sambalpuri dance form Rasar Jamudale, choreographed and directed by Bijan Kumar Palai & Binayak Samal.
Next was Odissi dance Namami an invocation to Lord Ganesh who reside under the Kalpabata presented by senior dancers of the academy followed by another group Odissi presentation Paashani set to Raga-Sankaravaran, Tal- Ektali and Khemta which reflect the Odishan’s art, sculpture, history and tradition presented by the 2nd year students of Orissa Dance Academy.
Next Odissi dance was Sankaravaran Pallavi set to Raga- Sankaravaran & Taal- Ektali.
Dance Choreographed by Padmabibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and Music composed by Pt.Late Bhubaneswar Mishra.
Followed by Odissi Abhinaya Jamuna Kumar Aau Jaana by the senior dancers of the academy.
Next item was Saberi Pallavi set to Raga- Saveri & Taal- Ektali.
Dance choreographed by Padmabibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, music composed by Pt.Late Bhubaneswar Mishra and dance directed by Guru Bijay Kumaar Dash.
Concluding evening last presentation was Odissi abhinaya Dashavatara performed by Dibyanka, Arpita, Swagatika, Debanshi, Madhusmita, Tejaswini, Sulagna, Rashmi, Simran, Ipsita, Upasana, Sribali, Pragyan, Monali, Satyabhama, Ananya & Ankita.
The musician who accompanied the artists were Bijay Kumar Barik on Mardala, Harapriya Swain on vocal, Srinibash Satapathy on Flute, Agnimitra Behera on Violin and Satyaban Sethi on Sitar.
The event was coordinated by Pramod Kumar Rout and compared by Dr.Srinivas Ghatuari .
